Injectables

Injectables Are Botox ®, Restylane ®, Juvederm TM & Radiesse

Injectables including Botox ® and Restylane® are the most common non-surgical rejuvenation procedures. These injectables are most commonly used for erasing years of aging by eliminating wrinkles and to fill in grooves and creases.

Injectables are injection based treatments that have little to no downtime and can provide results immediately. Injectables are also known to be very painless and have short session times. Injectables allow patients to return to work or other activities the same day of their treatment.

For specific information about any of these injectables browse through the product-specific FAQ below:

Juvederm TM

  • Juvederm TM dermal filler was FDA-approved in 2006 for the treatment of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds such as nasolabial folds or also known as "parentheses". Juvederm TM is injected into the skin to instantly plump mild to moderate folds and/or creases of the skin and add volume to the lips.
  • Juvederm TM is a gel made up of hyaluronic acid, a natural complex sugar that is found in humans that improves skin elasticity, providing a smooth and supple appearance. It is proven to be safe and effective up to one year of treatment.

Radiesse ®

Radiesse ® dermal filler is made of calcium based micro-spheres. These micro-spheres are suspended in a water-based gel, and is injected into the folds of the face or treated area.

  • Restores a healthy, youthful appearance
  • Enhances your existing features
  • Helps you defy age and gravity without invasive cutting or surgery.

FDA approved, Radiesse ® lasts over a year in most patients.

Restylane ® FAQ

What is Restylane ®?
Restylane ® is a safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds.
What is Restylane ®made of?
Restylane ® is the first and only cosmetic dermal filler made of non-animal-based hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a substance that already exists in the human body and is used to provide volume and fullness to the skin. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane ® is crystal-clear gel called HASHA tm, or Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid. NASHA is biodegradable and completely biocompatible with human hyaluronic acid.
How is Restylane ® different than other hyaluronic acid-based products?
Unlike other hyaluronic acid-based products, such as those made from rooster combs, only Restylane ® is non-animal based. This quality virtually eliminates any risk of animal-based disease transmission or allergic reaction.
What should patient do prior to treatment?
Restylane ® requires no pretesting, but you should take a few precautions before being treated. Avoid using aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, St. John's Wort, or high doses of Vitamin E supplements prior to treatment, because these may increase bruising or bleeding at the injection site. Also, if you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, there is a risk that the needle punctures could contribute to another recurrence.
Is Restylane ® safe?
Yes, Restylane ® has been used safely by dermatologists and plastic surgeons since 1996 worldwide. Because Restylane ® is non-animal-based and fully bio-compatible, allergy testing is not required. There is virtually no risk of animal-based disease transmission or allergic reaction. The most commonly reported side effects were temporary redness and swelling at the injection site. These effects typically resolve within two to three days.
Can Restylane ® be used anywhere on the face?
Restylane ® has been used in more than one million treatments in over 60 countries to correct a variety of wrinkles and to enhance the appearance and fullness of lips. However, it is currently indicated in the U.S. only for the treatment of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds.
How long does Restylane ® last?
Studies have shown that the average treatment results last six months or even longer. The unique NASHATM technology helps maintain the cosmetic effect until the injected material is nearly gone.
How often should I have Restylane ® treatments done?
Restylane ® lasts twice as long as collagen, so treatments are typically scheduled twice a year. Evidence shows that having a touch-up treatment before the product has fully dissipated will enhance the lasting effect.
How is Restylane ® different from Botox?
Restylane ® is a natural, cosmetic filler. In contrast, Botox is a drug that blocks nerve transmission and relaxes the underlying muscles. Many patients have been very pleased after receiving treatment with both products.
How is Restylane ® different from bovine collagen?
Restylane ® is proven to deliver a longer-lasting effect than traditional collagen, with virtually no risk of animal-based disease transmission or allergic reaction. In addition, bovine collagen is derived from animals (cow) and requires an allergy test. Because Restylane ® is non-animal-based, it can be administered without pretesting, so no waiting is required.
Do the injections hurt?
Restylane ® is injected directly into the skin in tiny amounts by an ultra-fine needle, resulting in minimal discomfort. The procedure is simple and convenient, and results are practically instantaneous. To optimize your comfort during the short procedure, your physician may anesthetize the treatment area.
How much do Restyalne treatments cost?
Restylane ® is a customized procedure based on your specific needs, so the cost will vary from patient to patient. In general, the cost of Restylane ® is comparable to the cost of similar procedures. Because Restylane ® is longer lasting, it proves to be very economical over the long term.

Botox ® FAQ

What is Botox ®?
Botox ® is a natural, purified protein, which in very low doses relaxes the overactive muscles that cause frown lines to form. Treatment is simple and nonsurgical and smoothes the deep, persistent lines between your brows that developed over time.
Is Botox ® safe?
Botox ®, which has been safely used to treat a variety of conditions for more than 10 years, is now FDA-approved for the temporary treatment of frown lines in people aged 18 to 65.
Where does Botox ® go?
It generally remains only in the treated muscle and gradually disapperas without breaking down or traveling throughout the body.
How long does Botox ® last?
Results last about 4 months, after which lines gradually revert to their pretreatment appearance.
Will it radically change my appearance?
No, expect a dramatic improvement in the appearance of your frown lines. In clinical trials, nearly 90% of the men and women surveyed rated the improvement in their brow lines as moderate to better. Overall, you'll look more relaxed and refreshed but not like "you've had work done."
Will Botox ® make me lose expression?
No, the only expression you'll lose is the unintentional frown caused by the overactive muscles between your brows. So you can frown, smile, or look suprised-without the creases and wrinkles between your brows.
What can I expect from a Botox ® treatment?
The doctor will determine exactly where to administer several tiny injections to achieve the best results. No anesthesia is required, although he or she may choose to numb the area with a cold pack or anesthetic cream prior to injecting. The entire treatment takes approximately 10 minutes. Discomfort is minimal and brief-most patients compare the sensation to a bug bite. Most people return to work or normal activity immediately.
Within days, you'll see a marked improvement, which may continue to improve for as long as a week and should last up to 4 months.
Is Botox ® right for you?
If you're between the ages of 18 and 65 and doing all you can to look your best is important to you, Botox ® may be for you.
If reducing those tough lines between your brows would make you feel more approachable, Botox ® may be for you.
Thousands of appearance-conscious women and men have already discovered the benefits of Botox ®. Not just models and movie stars, but ordinary people, teachers, mothers and business people from all walks of life.
Are Botox ®treatments painful?
Injectables tend to have discomfort that is minimal and brief. Your physician may choose to use a local anesthetic cream or ice to minimize this. Once the injection is complete, there is usually no discomfort.
How much do Botox ® treatments cost?
When considering your facial aesthetic options, Botox ® is quite affordable. According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery's 2000 survey. Botox ® is one of the least expensive facial aesthetic procedures, ranking seventh of the 9 most widely used procedures in the United States. Like other appearance-related investiments, such as hair coloring and cuts, teeth whitening and chemical peels, the cost must be weighed relative to your expectations.
